Year 13 Politics Students Visit Parliament Buildings, Stormont

Year 13 Politics students visited Parliament Buildings, Stormont as part of their AS1 study of the Government and Politics of Northern Ireland. Owing to the dissolution of the Assembly in January, there were no MLAs present in the building and so there was no opportunity to question MLAs regarding the impending election. However, students were able to speak to the Clerk to the Health Committee regarding the scrutiny function of the statutory committees. A tour of Parliament Buildings concluded with a visit to the Assembly Chamber; no one was allowed to sit in the Speaker’s chair!
