EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES
2016
European Day of Languages 2016 was celebrated on September 26 by pupils and teachers with great élan. As part of our outreach programme to schools in our local community, Year 13&14 boys visited St Thérèse de Lisieux and Our Lady of Lourdes primary schools to teach introductory language classes in French, Spanish and Irish. The primary school children loved the lessons and this year, they were treated to singing in Irish which went down a storm. Our boys found the experience a rewarding one and were keen to do it again.
Meanwhile back in the College, the juniors went on a the languages treasure hunt, there were food tastings of typical Spanish, Irish and French foods and Yolaine, the French Assistant gave demonstrations of how to cook ‘la galette bretonne’ and students were able to savour the delights afterwards.
It was another busy, fun-filled languages day which set the year off to a good start.
