A Chairde
The Irish department are very pleased to announce that we had a successful day at Gael Linn’s public speaking competition Abair. Despite fierce competition from other local grammar and secondary schools, Ruairí Ó Brollaigh achieved second place in the GCSE section. He spoke with passion about Mental Illness. Lochlainn De Brun achieved first place in the A Level Fluent category with a speech on his thought of moving to Mars. The audience really enjoyed his joke on how he would create a chain of pubs called ‘Mars Bars.’ These two boys will go on to represent the College in the Ulster final which will take place after Easter. Also, Oisin Thompson was highly commended on his speech highlighting the similarities between Irish migrants of the 1800s and migrants of today.
