Inaugural Junior Debate

On Wednesday 12th October, members of the Junior Debating Society gathered in unprecedented numbers to watch Matthew McCrory (10F) and Rory Higgins (10C) take part in the first debate of the new term.

The motion before the House looked at Donald Trump’s suitability to be the 45th President of the United States. After spirited and well researched arguments from both Year 10 students, the debate was opened to the floor. Matthew and Rory demonstrated skill and poise when answering questions proffered and at that stage the result was much too close to call!

In the end, the House voted to defeat the motion 19-21.

The next debate (scheduled for the Wednesday 26th October) will see students discuss the motion – This house believes the in supernatural.
