Year 14 Sports Science - Colour Run Event!

The Year 14 Sport Science A-level class planned and organised a cross community “Colour Run” as the coursework aspect of their course. The event saw over 150 Year 8 students from both St Malachy’s and Belfast Royal Academy participate in. The main theme of the Colour Run was to promote physical activity and to show that it can be done in a fun and non-competitive way. From the beginning of the planning process we had decided we would incorporate raising money for a mental health charity into the event as we feel it is a great opportunity to raise awareness and funds for our chosen charity. Our chosen charity is PIPS which is a "Public Initiative for the Prevention of Suicide and Self-harm" which, unfortunately is an issue in today's society, especially in North Belfast.

We would like to thank the following sponsors of the event; C Murray Opticians, Fusion Physio and The Kennedy Centre who all helped make the event happen.

We also like to thank the business’ who helped us by supplying equipment and refreshments for the event including; George Fegan Tyres, Henderson’s Wholesaler and Megabounce NI. Finally we would like to thank Shannon Millan and Michelle Fitzgerald who took the Zumba warm up before the event and Rory Davidson who took the photos for the event!
