10F History Visit to PRONI

10F attended the Public Record Office Northern Ireland (PRONI) on Thursday 8th June on an educational visit organised by the History Department. The students were taken on a tour of the building and were also shown how to access the historical archives dating back to the C13th on Irish history. They were then given the opportunity to browse some of the records relating to the Battle of Messines. The centenary of this World War One battle is being commemorated this month as it was the first battle in WW1 where Nationalists and Unionists from Ireland fought together. Niall Kerr, the Digital Resource Developer from the Nerve Centre facilitated the students in creating their own digital story on the battle using Green Screen and Comic Life. The workshop was excellent in h developing digital skills as well as increasing historical knowledge on the events of WW1.
