Year 14 History students recently visited Dublin as part of our study of the Partition of Ireland. Our first stop was Kilmainham Gaol. Our guide highlighted the fascinating role of key personalities and episodes during Easter week 1916.
Next, we travelled to Glasnevin cemetery, the final resting place of many notable Irish historical figures, including Eamon de Valera, Michael Collins, Charles Stewart Parnell and Countess Markievicz as well as the crypt of Daniel O'Connell. Our guide also showed us the grave of past St. Malachy's College student and former Tánaiste Seán MacEntee.
